Dr Harpreet Singh Bajaj, MD, MPH, ECNU, FACE
Harpreet Singh Bajaj is the founding chairman of “STOP Diabetes” Foundation Inc. Dr. Bajaj’s medical education was at Maulana Azad Medical College (New Delhi, India), afterwhich he went on to attain a Masters of Public Health at State University of New York in Albany in United States. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, USA and a clinical fellowship in the specialty of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Cleveland Clinic in USA and subsequently attained certifications to practice medicine by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. He has been practicing community-based endocrinology in Brampton since 2009. Dr. Bajaj has been involved in pioneering research in diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular risk assessment. Dr. Bajaj teaches techniques of performing neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules to endocrinology fellows at McMaster University and at University of Western Ontario. Dr. Bajaj is the nominated chairman of tariff committee at the Ontario Medical Association’s section on endocrinology and metabolism – a position he has held since 2011. With the sole intent of improving diabetes awareness in the community, Dr. Bajaj has been a guest speaker at numerous public health education events across the Greater Toronto area, especially in Brampton. To formalize his commitment to public health efforts with an aim to reduce the burden of diabetes, he founded the not-for-profit organization “STOP Diabetes” Foundation Inc in 2013. Dr. Bajaj maintains a very active exercise regimen, despite a hectic work schedule – he is considered a health role model by his patients and the community at large. He practices what he preaches when it comes to healthy food choices and diet control.
